The popular TV pitchman Billy Mays has died. He was pronounced dead at his Tampa home Sunday morning. His wife, Deborah, found her husband’s body. She said the family doesn’t expect to make any public statement and asked for privacy.
There was no evidence of a break-in or other foul play. His body has already been removed from his home and an autopsy will be performed between today and tomorrow. TMZ is reporting that Mays was struck in the head by something that fell from a luggage rack during a rough landing Saturday aboard a U.S. Airways flight (shades of Natasha Richardson anyone?) when the plane’s front tire blew out after the jet touched down.
