The most recent episode of the HBO comedy series Curb Your Enthusiasm, centered around Larry David getting his hand burnt by a hot towel given to him in flight. The whole show focused on the aftermath and consequences of his injured hand.
The first unexpected issue is when Larry asks the doctor for his home phone number in case of an emergency. The doctor refuses at first but caves when Larry's manic behavior gets the best of the doctor. Then, an affair with an ex-girlfriend ends in disaster because of his limited movement in his hand. He gets so mad that he can't move his hand he removes the bandage and throws it away. That turned out to be a huge mistake because the boyfriend of his ex-girlfriend finds the bandage and tracks it to Larry. He's eventually caught and punished by the jealous boyfriend.
David, the creator and star of the show, always seems to be finding himself in unexpected situations like this. Maybe its because his character is heavily based on his real life and real experiences. He is also the creator of the show Seinfeld that was hugely popular in the 90's, which was also based on his real life experiences. Let's just say that we've all had situations that surprise us or put us in a tough position. I guess Larry strangely enjoys putting those situations on display in Curb Your Enthusiasm unlike the rest of us who try to move on as fast as possible.
