For me with long thick hair I can easily braid my ends to form a bun. However there are different types of extensions, clip on braids and even buns that can be found at various hair care isles, and stores. If your using your own hair you can also choose to use small braids like Bryce Dallas Howard or use a large braid. I personally would start with damp hair and a styling cream, mousse or gel. Part the hair accordingly but don’t be afraid to choose a opposite side or completely different part if this particular one does not appeal to you! Use a decorative holding band for the bun if you wish, or one that matches your hair color. Use coated bobby pins similar to your hair color to hold bun into place. I personally always start pinning the bottom or sides first and sometimes can manage to use less pins as possible.
