Amy Winehouse admits adultery, gets divorce

amywinehouseblakeAmy Winehouse’s indiscretion is going to cost her nearly $4 million. The singer will have to pay her ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil $3.6 million as a divorce settlement after she admitted cheating on him during their two-year marriage.

London’s High Court on Thursday when a judge granted the couple a decree nisi, which means that if no further evidence is submitted to the court within the next six weeks, their divorce will be official.

Fielder-Civil filed for divorce in January, citing Winehouse’s adultery after he saw pictures of her cavorting with another man while on vacation in St Lucia.

Winehouse apparently confessed to cheating on her husband eight months before the divorce came about.

In court papers, Fielder-Civil was asked to outline his reasons for the divorce, and stated: “The respondent confessed the adultery to me in April 2008.”

In a separate document, Winehouse was asked: “Do you admit the adultery alleged in the petition?”, and answered: “Yes.”

No name is given for the person with whom she had the affair.

Fielder-Civil also said he finds it “intolerable” living with the singer, and they have not shared a home since April 2008.

Winehouse is worth an estimated $15 million and has agreed to pay for the cost of the divorce proceedings.
