Brad Pitt would make for pretty photo ops, but the actor has laughed off a campaign urging him to run for mayor in his adopted home of New Orleans, Louisiana, insisting politics is “not what I do best”.
Residents are trying to put him in the mayor’s office after he helped to rebuild the hard-hit Lower Ninth Ward area through his Make It Right Foundation, which is providing affordable housing for families displaced by 2005’s Hurricane Katrina.
Supporters have been distributing T-shirts bearing the actor’s face with the simple slogan “Brad Pitt for Mayor.” He owns a home in the city with Jolie, but has no interest in pulling a Schwarzenegger.
“Yeah, I’m running (for the office of mayor) on the gay marriage, no religion, legalization and taxation of marijuana platform! No, I don’t have a chance! It’s not what I do best,” he said.
