Mercy’s new mom is less mommy and more… pen pal? Madonna won her appeal to adopt four-year-old Mercy James last week and now calls her every night and has a nanny and a nurse looking after her in her new digs, a luxury lodge in Malawi’s capital, Lilongwe.
“Mommy is waiting for you across the seas,” she reportedly told her on Sunday. Madonna’s aides are now working on legal documents and travel papers for Mercy. Once those are finished, she’s expected to fly by private jet from Malawi and to New York.
But barely a few weeks after that, Madonna will start a European tour on July 4 which will last until the end of August. During this time Mercy is expected to stay in New York with a team of nannies.
I’m happy Mercy will have a family, but shouldn’t that family include a full-time mom for at least a few months?
