‘Vampire Assistant’ preview

If you’re not so into “Twilight” and want a little alternative vampire programming, Paul Weitz has a movie for you. The co-director of “American Pie” and “About a Boy” has a new vampiric comedy to compete with his brother Chris Weitz’s “New Moon” (yeah, it’ll gross maybe 10 percent of the newest “Twilight” movie)

“Cirque du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant” is about a young boy named Darren Shan, who meets a mysterious man at a freak show who turns out to be a vampire. After a series of events Darren must leave his normal life and go on the road with the Cirque Du Freak and become a Vampire.
